The administration of booster immunisations should be started no earlier than 6 months after completion of chemotherapy treatment for leukaemia, Hodgkin’s disease or a solid tumour, or one year after autologous stem cell transplantation.
Important Note: the current unit policy is not to measure functional antibody status in children after completion of chemotherapy treatment for any one of the above conditions.
HSCP staff, in liaison with General Practice Staff, will be responsible for administering immunisations. All requests for such immunisation should be sent to the Screening Department, Templeton Business Centre, First Floor Building 2, 62 Templeton Street, Glasgow G40 1DA.
Each patient’s consultant will decide if booster immunisations are required and when these should start. Appendix 1 shows the correct vaccination details and will be completed by the consultant and sent to the above address and copied to the patient’s GP where appropriate.
Any planned or unplanned deviations from this SOP must be documented and reviewed by the appropriate personnel (see SOP for Non-Conformances and Corrective Actions).
