Escalation criteria

  • Oxygen saturations (SpO2) <94% (NB in cyanotic congenital heart disease this may not apply)
  • Tachypnoeic, persistent or worsening respiratory effort despite HiFlo +/- increased WOB
  • Tachycardia, persistant or worsening despite HiFlo
  • Sustained elevated respiratory component of PEWS score
