Paediatric Neurorehabilitation Service

Warning

What is the Paediatric Neurorehabilitation service?

The West of Scotland Paediatric Neurorehabilitation Service provides treatment for children needing hospital-based (inpatient) rehabilitation following an injury to their brain or spinal cord.  We look after children from birth up to their 16th birthday, though typically we find that children aged at least 18 months benefit most from inpatient rehabilitation.   We are a multidisciplinary service bringing together the skills of lots of different health professionals, and aim to provide a programme tailored to the needs of an individual child.  We are mainly based on ward 3A in the Royal Hospital for Children, but help look after children on other wards and units, such as the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit or Cardiology ward, depending on what that child needs.

This is an inpatient-only service.

Who is this suitable for?

Referral to Paediatric Neurorehabilitation service is appropriate for children with an acquired insult to their brain and / or spinal cord who will require significant input from specialist therapy services as part of their inpatient treatment.
