Escalation policy to maintain safety - RHC Standard Operating Procedure

2 of 4 criteria should trigger the escalation policy:

  1. Emergency Department (ED) cubicles are full with no capacity to move patients into either Majors or Minors
  2. 1 or more patients are in ED Resus requiring significant input from ED senior staff
  3. >15 patients / hr are presenting to ED
  4. In-patient bed problems are preventing patients leaving ED
