Managing SAS pre-alert for newborns delivered in the community - RHC ED

Expected Action in ED upon receipt of a call from SAS notifying that a new-born (term or premature) baby is en route to RHC ED

This is an interim plan pending review in 6 months with the outcome of a short-life working group on SAS processed when bringing new-borns to hospital in GGC.

• ED receives call about fresh new-born baby
  
  
• ED asks SAS to take baby to QEUH Labour Ward via Maternity ramped side entrance
  
  
• ED calls labour ward to inform of new-born arrival and ETA- 0141 201 3392/ 0141 232 4417
  
  
• ED calls neonatal nurse in charge – SCN DEC 0141 452 2111/ Red Emergency Phone 0141 201 2262
